USCDI+ Maternal Health Information Session

Tuesday, September 23, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm ET

ASTP/ONC established the United States Core Data for Interoperability Plus Maternal Health (USCDI+ MH) as a core set of data necessary for use across the health care ecosystem to improve maternal health outcomes.  USCDI+ MH exists within the USCDI+ initiative and serves to coordinate and harmonize data classes and data elements used by federal agencies to support national interoperability.

ASTP/ONC launched the USCDI+ MH dataset with over 200 data elements. Following a public comment period from May 31 to July 31, 2024, ASTP/ONC refined the dataset and developed a use case that identifies a constrained set of data elements to support postpartum transitions of care.

At the information session ASTP/ONC will present on these activities, including findings from a recent pilot of the use case and its supporting FHIR Implementation Guide.

The presentation will address:

  • Selection and development of the Postpartum Transition of Care use case.
  • Development, implementation, and real-world validation of a new FHIR IG tailored to the use case; and
  • Opportunities for collaboration, including use of the USCDI+ dataset and development of future maternal health use cases to serve federal programs and leverage interoperable data.
