As a Senior Legislative Analyst, you will be serving as an expert to the Agency in matters relating to the comprehensive and continual coordination of legislative proposals for ASTP/ONC.  Providing leadership on complex, sensitive, diverse and unique legislative and political matters on pending health care and Health Information Technology (HIT) reform issues.  Performing in-depth analyses of problems and issues of interest to Congress. Interpreting congressional intent on proposed legislative actions and proposes a policy position based on said legislation for the Agency.

Artificial Intelligence Technology Expert

As an Artificial Intelligence Technology Expert, you will plan, organize, and direct AI programs and projects.  Serve as an agency advisor in AI application development. Develop guidelines and policies, and standards to meet the organization's requirements that may have an impact on bargaining unit employees.  Design and develop AI models and algorithms.  Manage the product development process, alongside the development teams to ensure timely delivery of features while maintaining high-quality standards.  Collaborate with colleagues on cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams, such as engineering, design, data science, and product to ensure seamless development and execution of AI-powered products or features.  Provide technical advice and support on solutions to critical AI problems, which require creativity in generating new approaches, and standards to be used by internal and external stakeholders.  Develop procurement support materials, such as acquisition plans, procurement strategies, cost estimates, statements of objectives, and schedules of deliverables.  Conduct training sessions for agency employees as well as outside parties to share information, promote the use of AI, and assures coordination of all activities related to assigned areas of responsibility.  Assure effective operations and achievement of contractual requirements and program objectives.

Pathways to Public Service

In partnership with other HHS agencies, in 2019, ASTP initiated the Pathways to Public Service (PTPS) program to equip students of minority-serving institutions (MSIs) with the knowledge and skills needed to be viable candidates in their pursuit of careers in public service through internships and entry-level positions.

Through virtual fairs and professional development workshops, students are educated on the mission of HHS, the Federal Government’s Pathways Programs, and the federal hiring process.

Eligibility

The federal government uses a system for categorizing and defining jobs. A 'grade' refers to the General Schedule (GS) pay scale. It indicates the pay level for the job/position. If you haven't worked for the federal government yet, you may not be sure what grade you fall into. The table below will provide some guidance.
